The Walking Wounded is Bayside's third full length album and their first after releasing an acoustic album in the memory of their drummer John Holohan, killed in an accident in 2005.
Following the tragic van accident that took the life of drummer John 'Beatz' Holohan in 2005, it was easy to assume that Bayside's third album would be something of a somber affair. But instead of dwelling on the past, The Walking Wounded shows Bayside clearly focusing on moving forward. For a group who revel in moody and dark emo, this record is actually their brightest set of songs yet -- they seem more resilient, and these general feelings of survival permeate the entire record, so that a sentiment like 'Some say it's all fate, but I say we control our lives and if my destiny should out best me, then that's fine' (from the charging 'Duality') very well represents their collective mindset. There's a real emphasis on Jack O'Shea's adept guitar throughout, but even when his lines get the spotlight, there's no denying how strong and developed as a unit Bayside sounds. This is highlighted quickly when the opening whimsy of the excellent title cut gives way to muscular rhythms that complement the hardened edge in Anthony Ranieri's voice; I Am the Avalanche's Vinnie Caruana caps the song off superbly with a guest spot. As with many bands, scene frustrations surface as well. The jangling guitars of '(Pop)ular Science' set a mood opposite to lyrics like 'I thought I was a part of something more, but more money, less substance, more demand....trending what we fought to make ours.' 'I and I' and 'Head on a Plate' earnestly and defiantly seek to lead a musical change among the kids, the latter with a nice melody wavering somewhere between Alkaline Trio and Motion City Soundtrack. Bayside have been flying under the radar for the last few years, especially as compared to many of their Victory peers. But they look to be in it for the long haul and definitely have the chops to make a lasting mark. Even though this album may not provide that extra push into the public eye, fans will have a hard time denying how great Bayside sounds.

Bayside - Walking Wounded [Us Import] - Bayside CD T0VG The Fast Free Shipping. Bayside - The Walking Wounded - Rare Cream Colored LP. The Walking Wounded, BAYSIDE s newest collection of songs and stories, is ready to join the band s celebrated catalog and find a place in the hearts and minds of their rapidly-growing, worldwide fan base. Formed in Queens, Bayside takes their cues from Nirvana and Green Day, their lyrics brandished by their passionate fan base like badges of misfit honor. A spirit of authenticity permeates an impressive discography, including Sirens and Condolences (2004), Bayside (2005), The Walking Wounded (2007), Shudder (2008), Killing Time (2011), Cult (2014), and Vacancy (2016). Bayside's 2007 album 'Walking Wounded' was their big breakout album. Although it was their third release, it really caught the attention of the public and critics at large. As the first album after the death of their drummer in a traffic accident, the surviving band members seem happy to be alive. Bayside is currently recording LP3, entitled The Walking Wounded and set for release via Victory Feb. It'll follow up 2005's eponymous full-length as well an acoustic EP/DVD set released earlier this year.
The Walking Wounded is the third studio album by American rock band Bayside.
Composition and recording[edit]
Raneri had spent five months writing The Walking Wounded.[1] On November 8, 2006, it was announced the band had begun recording.[1] The band worked with producers Shep Goodman and Kenny Gioia, who had previously produced the band's self-titled album.[1]
Release[edit]
'Duality' has been released as Bayside's first single off The Walking Wounded; it was made available for download on iTunes on January 23, 2007. The album was released on February 6. 'Duality' was released to radio on the same day.[2] In February and March, the band supported Anberlin on their tour of the US.[3] From late June to late August, the band went on the 2007 edition of Warped Tour.[4] From late October to early December, the group headlined the 2007 edition of the Victory Tour.[5]
From late January to early March 2008, the band went on a headlining tour of the US with support from Straylight Run, Four Year Strong, Tokyo Rose and The Status.[6] The band supported the Starting Line on their headlining tour of the US in March and April.[7] A music video was released for 'Carry On' on March 26. According to Alternative Press, the video 'features the band rocking amongst skyscrapers in a mock city'.[8] In April, the band appeared at the Bamboozle Left festival.[9] The band re-issued The Walking Wounded on July 22. Dubbed The Walking Wounded: Gold Edition,[10] the re-issue includes a special edition CD/DVD. The CD/DVD also includes new packaging, an acoustic set filmed at Looney Tunes record store on Long Island, a behind the scenes documentary filmed on tour and music videos.
